Is the Triple Bypass a race? Will awards be given to top finishers?

The Triple Bypass is a RIDE and not a race.  There are no awards for the top finishers however each rider that crosses the finish line will receive a recycled bicycle chain medallion.  Times will not be tracked or published.

Will the course be closed to motorized traffic?

Requested road closures include Highway 103, Alvarado Road and Swan Mountain Road.

When/where does the 2012 Triple Bypass Ride start and end?

There is no mass start time.  The start line will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.  Typically, riders start between 5:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.  The peak time at the finish area is 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  The finish line(s) closes at 8:00 p.m. Start/Finish in Evergreen is the bottom of Hwy 103, the Start/Finish in Avon is Nottingham Park.

How will registered riders be identified?  Can I ride without registering?

Registered riders will have a helmet number along with a wristband and bike bib number. There will be different colored helmet numbers for each ride (Saturday, Sunday, Double). Numbers MUST be visible at all times.  Checkpoints will be located along the route for safety purposes.  Only official riders will be allowed on the course.

Will there be route support for riders?

Yes. We have five Aid Stations along the way – Juniper Pass, Georgetown, Loveland, Frisco and Vail Pass.  There is SAG Support roving the entire route to move you and your bike forward to the next Aid Station.  Mechanical and medical support is also located at each Aid Station.

Are helmets mandatory on the course?

Yes!

Are there any items that are prohibited on the bike course? THESE WILL BE HIGHLY ENFORCED IN 2012.

  • Head sets are not allowed.
  • Burleys or any bike trailers are not allowed.
  • Aero bars are not allowed.

How can I provide feedback about the ride?

Feedback is always welcome!  Additionally, there will be a Rider Survey sent out after the ride.  We look forward to feedback about the ride and how we can make it an even better experience for the next year. We added the Triple Bypass Sunday ride and the Double Triple Bypass, as well as the new registration process, primarily as a result of the feedback from last year's survey.

Transfers

If I can't ride can I transfer my entry to someone else?

Yes. In 2012 we will offer a ride entry transfer process. The transfer process will be available beginning February 1, 2012.  Send an email to register@triplebypass.org indicating you would like to transfer your entry to someone else.  We will send you a transfer coupon code. Once you find a rider to take your entry, send them the transfer coupon code and instruct them to go to www.triplebypass.org where they can regsiter and enter the transfer code and pay the $25 fee. After they pay the $25 fee, your entry will become theirs. Any compensation is to be worked out between you and the transferee.

Why use the transfer process?

  • We will know that they are riding instead of you.
  • We will have their emergency contact information, and we will be able to run a safer ride.
  • They will be recorded as riding the Triple which is part of the Triple selection process.

There are two periods of time where transfers are allowed. The first one is February 1, 2012 through March 1, 2012. During this transfer period, riders that receive a transfer will be able to select their jersey size and have the rider packet and ride jersey delivered to the packet pick-up location of their choice or mailed to them via US Mail. The second dates are March 2, 2012 through July 10, 2012. During this transfer period, riders that receive an entry transfer will need to use your packet and ride jersey. You and they will need to coordinate the packet exchange and compensation. There will be a rider bib (helmet number, bike number, and wrist band) with the transferees information available for them to pick-up at the start area(s) between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15, 2012.  If the jersey is the wrong size there are provisions at the finish line to exchange ride jerseys and/or it can be done on Team Evergreen's Facebook page.  View Transfer Process Flow Chart.

Will there be group functionality this year?

Yes. You can establish a team/group (a "group" is considered 2 -10 people) during the registration process. See the Team Registration section below.

How will the registration process work?

The registration process will begin on January 2nd at 12:00 a.m. and be open through January 5th at 11:59 p.m. From January 2 to January 5, 2012 you will have the opportunity to enter the selection process for one of the Triple Bypass events. You may also indicate that you are willing to ride another ride if you are not succesful in getting into your first choice ride. Please note that there will not be priority given to the order in which your entry is received during the period of time between January 2 and January 5. You have four days in which you can take your time to submit your registration form. Please find out more on our Registration Process page.

Why did you implement a drawing process for the 2012 Triple Bypass?

In the three years before the 2011 ride the time period in which the Triple Bypass sold out had gone from 11 days, to 2 days to less than 1 hour. Last year we expanded the ride to a two day ride by adding the Triple Bypass Sunday ride and Double Triple Bypass. Team Evergreen wants to ensure the registration process will not be rushed and be as fair as possible.

Is there an advantage to being a Team Evergreen member? Do I have a better chance of getting selected for the 2012 Triple Bypass?

No. Joining Team Evergreen Bicycle Club has no effect on the Triple Bypass registration process. However, long time members, and riders that have ridden many Triple Bypass rides will receive consideration.

Will I be notified once I have submitted my entry form for registration?

Yes. You will receive an email stating that your registration form has been received.

If I am a Team Evergreen member and I am selected for the Triple Bypass, do I receive a discounted price?

No. The Triple Bypass (Saturday or Sunday) Ride(s) there is one price - $150.  The price for the Double Triple (two day ride) is $290 - this includes a commemorative Triple Bypass Jersey AND commemorative Double Triple Bypass Vest.  There is no Team Evergreen member discounted price for the 2012 Triple Bypass.

Will I be able to sign up for all three Triple Bypass rides to improve my chances of riding in the Triple Bypass this year?

No. You will not be allowed to sign up for all three events. If you attempt to register multiple times in order to try to recieve an entry into the ride, your entry form will be automatically disqualified, and you can try again next year.

Is there a Triple Bypass ride that I have a better chance of getting in to?

With the 2012 Triple Bypass being a two day event, we can only guess which ride will receive the most drawing entries, but we do anticipate that all three rides will sell out.

How do I get my Jersey, Bib #, Etc.?

When you have been selected your packet pick-up location, there will be a choice of locations to pick-up your jersey and rider packet starting the week of June 4 and running through July 11, close of buiness.  It can also be mailed to you at an additional cost of $20.00. You will be able to chose what you would like to do during the registration process. The last day to make any changes to your packet pick-up choice is May 28, 2012.

Packets will be available for pick-up in stores the week of June 4, 2012. If you selected the US mail option you will recieve your packet June 22, 2012.  Please contact triple@triplebypass.org with packet pick-up questions.

No.  Team Evergreen is providing a special Double Triple Bypass vest for registered Double Triple Bypass riders. You must be registered for the Double Triple Bypass in order to recieve a Double Triple Bypass vest in your ride packet. Double Triple Bypass vests are not available to purchase.

I signed up for the Triple Bypass but can’t do it anymore. What should I do?

Registrations are non-refundable, but we are offering a ride entry transfer process this year.  See transfer process page.

What is the refund or transfer policy for registration?

There are no refunds allowed. Please see the transfer policy above.

Is there an age minimum to participate in this event?

You must be over 18 years of age OR the parent/legal guardian of a minor under 18 years of age OR the legal guardian of an incapacitated and/or mentally challenged person in order to agree to the waiver language. If you are between the ages of 12 and 15, you must ride with a legal guardian. If you are under age 12 you must contact the Ride Director to obtain approval to participate.

Does each event have a maximum rider cap?

Yes.  The Triple Bypass Ride Saturday is 3,500.  The Triple Bypass Ride on Sunday is 2,500.  Team Evergreen is allowing 1,000 riders to ride both days, as part of the Double Triple Bypass. The 1000 riders are accounted for in Saturday and Sunday’s rides.  Therefore, there are a total of 5,000 spots available to ride in the 2012 Triple Bypass – Saturday, Sunday or Double Triple Bypass - both days.

Are there special deals on Hotels?

Yes.  Hotel discount information are listed on the Lodging page

Are transportation options available?

Yes. New this year, transportation will be available for purchase during registration.  Bus transportation to and from the Start Line (Evergreen, CO) and Finish Line (Avon, CO) Saturday and Start Line (Avon, CO) and Finish Line Sunday (Evergreen, CO) will be available for $75 per person and includes one bike and one small bag.  Please plan ahead and purchase your transportation during registration or in advance, in order to make sure a seat is guaranteed.  Based on demand and capacity, only riders who purchase transportation ahead of time will be provided transportation through the Triple Bypass.  At least 50% of the seats must be purchased in order for Triple Bypass to move forward with a scheduled bus listed below. Therefore, if there isn’t enough demand for one of the scheduled routes list below, the bus will be canceled. If a bus/route is canceled, the $75 will be credited back to your credit card and you will be notified of this change by April 2012.  Alternative transportation options will be listed on the Triple Bypass website in early Spring for riders to book on their own.   Please visit the transportation page for the schedule and more information.

Is a luggage truck provided?

Yes. Team Evergreen provides a complimentary luggage truck at the start line on the morning of the event to transport a small bag to Avon Elementary on Saturday and Evergreen on Sunday. Luggage drops will be available at the start line - Bergen Park, RTD lot, Bergen Valley Elementary, Castle Court and Bergen Meadow Elementary - Saturday morning from 6:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. and the start line on Sunday in Avon at Avon Elementary School from 6:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m.  We ask the bags be completely zipped up and contain no valuables. Please be sure your bag is marked with your name and cell phone number so that we can locate you if you forget to pick it up after the ride.

How are ride proceeds used?

The majority of the money donated goes to the Triple Bypass volunteer groups who help out with marshaling, Aid Stations, medical support, hanging directional signs, SAG support, finish line support, rider packet stuffing and other vital areas in order to run a successful ride.  Team Evergreen also gives to bicycling advocacy groups to promote and support cycling in the local community and the state of Colorado.

Is my registration fee considered a tax-deductible donation?

No.  Team Evergreen is a 501c4 and a charitable organization.  However, this is an entry fee to a ride and therefore not tax deductible.

Team Registration

Is a team the same thing as a group? How do I create or join a team?

Step 1:

A team consists of 2-10 people.  If you are planning to ride with 2-10 people and would like to enter the registration selection process as a team please select "Team Registration" on the registration page. You and your team will need to assign a team leader to facilitate this process.  If you are the team leader click "create a team." Please note that if you are not the team leader, you will need to wait until the team leader has created your team to join as a "member."

Step 2:

Team leader creates a new team by clicking "new team." A team name can be a maximum of 20 characters. Once the team leader creates a team name, subsequent team members can "join" the team. A member can follow step 1 above and join a team by clicking "join a team." As  a "member" you will search your team name, select your team name and follow further instructions. Once your registration is complete, your team leader will receive an email asking to approve you as a new member. Please note that your team leader will need to approve your request to become apart of the team. If you are not approved, you automatically enter the registration pool as a individual rider.

Step 3:

Team leaders will receive an email each time a member requests to join their team. When the team leader receives an email, they will need to "approve" the member by clicking "approved."  Team members need to be approved no later than January 6, 2012 by 11:59 p.m.  Again, if your team leader does not approve you by January 6, 2012, by 11:59 p.m. you automatically enter the registration pool as a individual rider. Once approved, the team member will be documented as apart of this team.

Step 4:

Team registration complete! Your team is now considered part of the selection process and you will be notified whether your team has been accepted into the ride via email on January 9, 2012. All members of the team will receive an email confirmation.  Please note if you decide to enter the registration process as a team your participation in the ride is dependent upon the team's acceptance during the selection process.

Do I have a better chance of getting selected for the 2012 Triple Bypass by joining a team?

No. Joining a team has no effect on your chances on making it through the selection process. The percentage of accepted individuals and accepted teams will be identical.
