Begin with a short four mile climb to the top of Vail Pass via Bowman's Shortcut, then it's a 14 mile decent down Two Elk trail. Finish with the ride along the Vail bike path back to the pass. Bring water, food, and clothing for an all day adventure.

Duration: 5 hours given the time needed to shuttle cards down to Minturn

Time: meet at Vail Pass at 9:00, shuttle cars down to Minturn and hit the trail around 10:00.

Miles: +/- 15 miles with the shuttle; +/- 30 as a loop.

Vertical: 2,500' to 3,000'

Trail Description:

From the top of Vail Pass Head up Shrine Pass road past the Shrine Past Lodge to your first right intersection. Follow this gravel road to the first trail head to Top of the World. This is Commando Run, the same trail the 10th Mtn Division trained on. Ride this puppy all the way to the intersection with Two-Elk trail. Take Two-Elk West into Minturn 12 miles from intersection. This is a difficult, backcountry ride. Bring plenty of water, food, and raingear for this one.
