Meet at the Clear Creek Middle School parking lot, ¼ mile south of the Forest Service Information Station on the east side of the road in Idaho Springs for a 9:00 am departure. I-70 Exit 240 to Colo. 103.
Clear Creek Middle School parking lot, Colo. 103 to Echo Lake then Juniper Pass, return the same. Option: Continue down Colo. 103 to Bergen Park, Colo. 65 through Soda Creek, Highway 40 to Floyd Hill and Highway 6 to Kermit’s bar, bike path and Colo. 314 to Idaho Springs, return to the Forest Service parking lot.
Clear Creek Middle School parking lot turn left (south) onto Colo. 103. Follow Colo. 103 13 miles to Echo Lake, then 3 more miles up to Juniper Pass. Retrace the route to the Forest Service parking lot in Idaho Springs. Option: Continue east 15 miles down Colo. 103 from Juniper Pass to Highway 74 in Bergen Park. Turn left (north) on Highway 74 and ride ¾ mile to Colo. 65 directly across from the Bergen Park Park and Ride. Turn left (west) on Colo. 65 and wind 3 miles through Soda Creek to the intersection with Highway 40. Turn left (west) on Highway 40 and ride 1 mile to the top of Floyd Hill. Descend Highway 40 for 2 miles to the intersection of Highway 6. Turn left (west) on Highway 6 for 1/3 mile to Kermit’s bar and the bike path. Get on the bike path and ride west 2 miles to Colo. 314. Follow Colo. 314 to the east end of Idaho Springs. Follow Colorado Blvd. west for 1.5 miles to the intersection with Colo. 103. Turn left (south) on Colo. 103 and ride ½ mile back to the Clear Creek Middle School parking lot.
Round trip: 32 miles 3,500 ft. elevation gain. w/Option: 43 miles 4,300 ft. elevation gain.
