Stanley Park Loop

Meet at Tanoa Center across from Taco Bell in the old Albertson’s parking lot at Highway 74 and Stagecoach Blvd., 3 miles south of Bergen Park for an 8:30 am departure. Plan from 4 to 5 hours to complete the 59 mile loop.

Highway 74 and Stagecoach Blvd., Bergen Park, El Rancho, I-70 to Genesee Pk., Highway 40 to I-70/Morrison Exit, Colo. 26 to Morrison, Colo. 8 to the Fort, through Willow Springs to Deer Creek Canyon Rd., S. Deer Creek Canyon Rd., High Grade Rd., Pleasant Park Rd., Conifer, Highway 73, Shadow Mtn. Rd., Black Mtn. Dr., Brook Forest Rd., Highway 73, Evergreen, Highway 74, Meadow Dr., Douglas Pk. Rd., Highway 74, Albertson’s.

From the Albertson’s parking lot turn left (north) onto Highway 74 and ride 3 miles to Bergen Park. From Bergen Park take Highway 74 east and north to El Rancho. At El Rancho get on I-70 for 2 miles to Genesee Pk. From Genesee Pk. follow Highway 40 east for 5 miles down Mt. Vernon Canyon to the I-70 exit to Morrison. Turn right (south), ride under the I-70 overpass onto Colo. 26. Follow Colo. 26 south into Morrison. At the stoplight (bike shop directly across from the stoplight) turn right (west) onto Colo. 74. Continue on Colo. 74, ½ mile to the west end of Morrison. Curve left (south) onto Colo. 8 and ride two miles to Willow Springs Rd. just past the Fort restaurant. Turn left (east) onto Willow Springs Rd. and follow the road as it winds under Highway 285 and up into the Willow Springs development. After 1 mile Willow Springs Rd. turns into W. Bellview Ave. for ¼ mile. Just before the clubhouse, turn right (south) onto Willow Springs Dr. Take care to make this right turn as the street sign has been missing in the past. If you pass the clubhouse on the north side of the road you have gone ¼ mile too far east. Follow Willow Springs Dr. until it runs into the Sundance development. From the culdesac at the entrance to the Sundance subdivision, dismount and take the emergency road (dirt) into the Ken Caryl Ranch development. At the end of the emergency road turn right (south) onto Golden Eagle Ln., ride a short distance and turn left (east) onto Black Bear Ln. Follow Black Bear Ln. until it dead ends into N. Ranch Rd. Turn right (south) onto N. Ranch Rd. and continue on until it dead ends into W. Ken Caryl Ave. (also called Valley Pkwy.) Turn right (northwest) onto Valley Pkwy. and continue 2.5 miles to the stoplight at the intersection with S. Valley Rd. Turn right (southwest) onto S. Valley Rd. and ride past Lockheed/Martin to Deer Creek Canyon Rd. Turn right (west) on Deer Creek Canyon Rd. and continue 3.5 miles and turn left (south) onto S. Deer Creek Rd., which Y’s into High Grade Rd. after 2.5 miles. Follow High Grade Rd. for 2 miles where it turns into Pleasant Park Rd. Follow Pleasant Park Rd. for 6.5 miles to Conifer. From Conifer, head north on Highway 73 for 1 mile to Shadow Mtn. Rd. Turn left (west) on Shadow Mtn. Rd. and ride west and north 3.5 miles to the top of the hill where the road turns into Black Mtn. Dr. Continue on Black Mtn. Dr. 3 miles to the Brook Forest Inn. Here the road becomes Brook Forest Rd. Follow Brook Forest Rd. east and north 6 miles to Highway 73. Turn left (north) on Highway 73 and ride 1 mile to downtown Evergreen. At the stoplight turn right (east) and ride through Evergreen to the Bradley Gas station at Meadow Dr. Turn left (west) and follow Meadow Dr. past the 7-11 for 1 mile. Meadow Dr. turns into Douglas Park Rd., then intersects with Highway 74. Turn right (north) on Highway 74 and head up the hill 1 mile to Albertson’s. Option: From Morrison take Highway 74 10 miles to Evergreen.

Round trip: 59 miles 5,500 ft. elevation gain. Option: 29 miles 2,650 ft. elevation gain.

Meet at the Stagecoach Bar & Grill for lunch at 1:00 pm.
